The short version
- We collect the details you give us to run the board and tell you when sparx.work opens near you.
- We never sell your data, and we don't run tracking or advertising cookies — so no annoying pop-ups.
- Your listing is shown to other tradespeople so they can find you. Your email is not shown publicly.
- You can see, change or delete your data, or unsubscribe, any time — just email us.
This policy explains what personal data sparx.work collects, why, what we do with it, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
1. Who we are
sparx.work (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a free job board for electricians and improvers in the United Kingdom, operated by Supersparx Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 16553269), registered office: Cricket Lodge, Cranbrook Road, Staplehurst, Tonbridge, TN12 0EJ. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration reference ZC180080.

2. What we collect
Information you give us
When you join the founding list or add a listing, you may give us:
- Your name (or the name you choose to go by);
- Your email address;
- Your town or postcode area;
- Your role / ECS grade, and (if you choose) your day rate, skills, availability, or what work you need;
- Anything else you type into a form or message.
Information collected automatically
- Local browser storage. We use your browser's local storage to remember that you've joined the founding list. This stays on your device — it isn't a tracking cookie.
- Basic technical logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps standard security logs, which can include your IP address and browser type, to keep the site running and protect it from abuse.
No tracking, no ad cookies. We don't use advertising or analytics-tracking cookies, and we don't build profiles of you to sell. That's why you won't see a cookie consent banner — we only use what's strictly needed to make the site work.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

Where we rely on consent (for example, launch emails), you can withdraw it at any time — see your rights below. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we've balanced those against your rights and only use what's reasonable to run the board.
4. Who we share it with
- Other users. The details in your listing (such as name, area, grade, skills and rate) are shown to other tradespeople using the board. Your email address is not shown publicly — you choose how to be contacted.
- Service providers who help us run sparx.work — for example Cloudflare (hosting and security) and our email provider. They only process your data on our instructions.
- Authorities, if we're legally required to, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
- We never sell your personal data, and we don't share it with advertisers.
5. Where your data is processed
Some of our providers (such as Cloudflare) may process data on servers outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as a UK “adequacy” decision or the International Data Transfer Agreement / Standard Contractual Clauses — so your data keeps the same protection it has here.
6. How long we keep it
- Founding-list details: until the board launches in your area and for a reasonable period after, or until you ask us to remove you.
- Listings: until you delete them or close your account, after which we delete or anonymise them within a reasonable period.
- We may keep limited records longer where the law requires it (for example, tax records).
7. How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your data safe, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and a reputable, security-focused host. No online service can be 100% secure, but we take it seriously and keep what we hold to a minimum.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- Have inaccurate data corrected;
- Have your data deleted (“right to be forgotten”);
- Restrict or object to how we use it;
- Receive your data in a portable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time, and unsubscribe from our emails.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113 — though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
9. Age
sparx.work is for people of working age in the trade. You must be at least 16 and legally entitled to work in the UK to create a listing. It isn't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect data from under-16s.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service grows. We'll change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, let you know by email or a notice on the site.
